There is also a practical way to continue now. The English comic volume 8 moves into the story after the Jeju Island raid. Readers who prefer prose can start with novel volume 4, deliberately revisiting that raid before moving forward. Those are different editions with different numbering; buying a book simply called “volume 8” can take you to the wrong part of the story.

The release information below is spoiler-free. The reading sections mention the end of the Jeju raid and the broad setup that follows it, but avoid revealing the System’s answers or later battles.

The next announced anime is Beyond the System

The official Japanese announcement of 4 July 2026 describes Beyond the System as a theatrical sequel to Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-. It presents a teaser visual and a teaser video, then asks viewers to await further information. That gives us a production format and a place in the story. It does not give us a third television season’s episode count or broadcast calendar.

Crunchyroll’s announcement from Anime Expo supplies the same essential connection: the movie continues from where season 2 stopped. A viewer who wants to follow the animated story should therefore finish the existing TV episodes and then look for this film’s release announcement. There is no announced intervening season to add to that route.

This also explains why searching for “season 3” produces confusing answers. The phrase expresses a reasonable question—when does the anime continue?—but the announced answer currently has a film title. Calling the movie a confirmed 12-episode season would give it a format the announcement does not establish. Calling the television series permanently cancelled would go beyond the announcement in the other direction.

For planning purposes, leave the year open. A proposed 2027 or 2028 window is not a booking date, and a future Japanese cinema date would still need a separate announcement for an American screening or streaming release. The useful update will identify the film, the territory and the release channel together. Until then, there is no reason to buy or keep a subscription solely for an assumed premiere month.

After 25 TV episodes, wait for the undated Beyond the System sequel film, continue after Jeju with comic volume 8, or revisit the raid with novel volume 4.
The two options after season 2. Comic volume 8 moves beyond Jeju; novel volume 4 deliberately revisits the raid. The film remains undated.

ReAwakening covers an earlier part of the story

Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- is the older theatrical compilation. Crunchyroll described its contents as a recap of season 1 followed by the first two episodes of season 2. Its original US and Canadian cinema engagement began on 6 December 2024, before the second season’s regular run.

That makes it an optional catch-up presentation for someone approaching season 2. It will not take a viewer beyond the end of that season. If you have already watched both television seasons, you have already passed the story material it was designed to introduce. Watching it again is a choice to revisit that material, rather than a necessary bridge to the new sequel.

For a first watch, I recommend the full first season followed by the full second season. That preserves the normal progression of Jinwoo’s relationships and abilities, without depending on a condensed recap. Someone who has already seen ReAwakening can recognize its preview as season 2 episodes 1 and 2; in the show’s continuous numbering, those are episodes 13 and 14. The next regular episode is season 2 episode 3, or episode 15 overall.

Finish the television story through episode 25

The official first-season archive runs from episode 1 through episode 12, “Arise.” The second season then continues the numbering from 13 through 25. There are therefore 25 numbered story episodes across the two seasons: 12 in the first and 13 in the second. Recap extras are not additional steps in that count.

The endpoint to look for is episode 25, “On to the Next Target”. A service that restarts its numbering with each season can instead display it as season 2 episode 13. Checking both the season and the title is more useful than assuming that an isolated “episode 13” means you have reached the end: in continuous numbering, that is where season 2 begins.

The finale brings the Jeju Island raid to its conclusion and leaves Jinwoo looking toward further growth. It is a stopping point for this television run, not the end of the complete source story. You do not need a separate viewing-order puzzle to get there. The relevant choice comes afterward: wait for the announced film, move to the comic, or experience the story in prose.

Comic volume 8 is the practical reading option after Jeju

For the illustrated continuation, look for Solo Leveling, Vol. 8 (comic) from Yen Press. Its publisher’s synopsis begins after the Jeju victory, with guilds seeking to recruit Jinwoo and his own guild becoming the immediate priority. This is a practical book-level handoff from season 2.

The paperback ISBN is 9798400901072; the digital edition is 9798400901089. Check the word “comic” in the title before buying. A familiar cover and volume number can otherwise lead you to the separately numbered prose series.

The collected book lists chapters 22–24, starting with “Establishing Ahjin Guild.” Those printed chapter numbers are not a webtoon installment reference. This recommendation identifies a volume and story stage; it does not claim a panel-perfect transition from the final anime frame.

There is a further reason to begin with volume 8 instead of buying a later book because its synopsis sounds more dramatic. The publisher’s volume 9 description is already concerned with Jinwoo’s return to the double dungeon and another escalating threat. Skipping ahead would pass over the guild-building material in the preceding volume. The immediate continuation matters even if a later confrontation is the event you are most curious about.

Treat this as reading advice, not a prediction of the film’s screenplay. The books establish what exists in the source story. The film announcement does not yet establish exactly which of those events it will include, how it will arrange them, or where it will stop.

Novel volume 4 offers a deliberate overlap

If you prefer prose, Solo Leveling, Vol. 4 (novel) is a conservative entry point. Its official synopsis centers on the joint raid on Jeju Island and Jinwoo’s recently recovered mother. You will revisit part of the anime’s closing arc. That overlap is the reason for this recommendation: it lets you settle into the novel’s presentation at a story stage you can recognize.

The paperback ISBN is 9781975319335. Look for the novel designation and the Yen On imprint. This is not comic volume 4 and is not interchangeable with comic volume 8. The two series package the same broad story into differently sized installments.

Novel volume 5 has already moved into later developments involving a dungeon break at Jinah’s school and a return to the Cartenon Temple. Its synopsis alone does not establish an exact, omission-free handoff from the final TV episode. If your priority is avoiding an accidental gap, choose the intentional rereading in volume 4 rather than treating volume 5 as a precisely verified starting line.

Starting from novel volume 1 is also a reasonable choice when the prose itself is the attraction. You will spend longer with familiar events, but you will encounter them in that version’s sequence from the beginning. For a viewer whose main aim is to move forward with visual storytelling, comic volume 8 is the more direct recommendation here; for someone who wants to change medium, the overlap in novel volume 4 has a purpose.

Choose the next step that fits how you want to follow Jinwoo

If animation is the experience you want, finish episode 25 and follow official news for Beyond the System. There is no need to read ahead simply because the release remains undated. If waiting is the problem, the English comic offers a specific next volume you can identify today. If you want the prose version, begin at a recognizable earlier point and allow for rereading.

For other anime-to-book handoffs, see our guides to reading after ReZERO season 4, Mushoku Tensei’s third season and novels, and Vinland Saga’s anime and manga continuation. Each identifies its own stopping point and edition; their volume numbers cannot be transferred between series.
