Checked 21 October 2026. The official publisher and anime pages reviewed for this update do not supply a verified date for another Hell installment or a separate Hell anime adaptation. This guide covers the published editions, their reading order and official access routes, with premise-level spoilers rather than the special’s later revelations.
Find the English special outside the main chapter list
VIZ uses two different catalogue pages. Its main Bleach chapter list ends at chapter 686 and separately recommends the Special One-Shot. That separation explains why reaching the bottom of the ordinary list can leave you thinking the Hell story is missing. Open the special’s own page instead of expecting another numbered entry in that list.
Use Bleach: Special One-Shot as the search title inside the service. A search for “chapter 687” or “Hell arc chapter 2” may use fan numbering or bring up speculation. It is a less reliable way to identify the publisher’s actual entry. This is especially useful if an app search returns the main manga first: check the work’s title, rather than repeatedly opening the final regular chapter.
The VIZ page identifies Kubo as the creator, but the reading interface depends on location. In the version returned during this check, it directed readers to MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA for locally available free chapters. That is a regional discovery link, not confirmation that this particular special is currently readable in full for free on every MANGA Plus account.
Before subscribing for this one work, find the actual special and check whether its reader opens, which language is offered and what access is required. A catalogue description, a preview and a complete chapter are different amounts of access. If the destination does not list the special in your region, this guide does not provide a verified paid workaround; a generic Bleach subscription advertisement is not enough to establish one.
Choose the Japanese digital edition you want
Shueisha’s original BLEACH 獄頤鳴鳴篇 listing gives 3 December 2021 as its digital release date. The Japanese title is commonly searched as Gokui Meimei-hen. Copying the catalogue title is the clearest route when a store does not recognise the English phrase “Hell arc.”
There is also an official Japanese full-colour digital edition, marked カラー版, released on 4 September 2023. Shueisha describes digital colouring and gives the same postwar ceremony premise. Choose it for the colour presentation, rather than treating the later publication date as evidence of a newly released sequel.
Both listings offer a trial-reading link. Use the preview to check the language and presentation before following the publisher’s store route. These links identify Japanese digital editions; they do not establish an English colour release or an English paperback. If your purpose is to read the dialogue in English, the existence of an attractive Japanese colour edition does not solve that language requirement.
The catalogue also explains a confusing pair of names. Its contents list NO BREATHES FROM HELL at page 7 and NEW BREATHES FROM HELL at page 76. Those are positions within the listed edition. They are not chapters 7 and 76, and the word “NEW” in that contents list does not announce a second installment released in 2026. Use the book’s date and identity when comparing search results with similar names.
Finish the main ending before the postwar special
The main manga concludes in volume 74, and VIZ’s chapter list runs through 686. Complete that ending and its epilogue before opening the special. Owning or reading the last main-series volume is a different task from locating the separately listed one-shot.
Shueisha’s synopsis places the special after the Soul Reapers’ war with the Quincies. Renji contacts Ichigo about a rite for captains who died in the war; the vice-captains’ preparations bring them into the World of the Living as a threat approaches. The publisher’s premise is enough to establish why this belongs after the war without giving away the later developments.
For someone still following the anime, our TYBW Part 4 episode dates and viewing guide identifies the final installments and the manga’s closing volumes. Finish the version you want to experience first. Reading the postwar special while waiting for the anime’s conclusion can reveal the resulting state of the world, even if you avoid a detailed account of the final battle.
There is no need to assign the special a guessed anime episode number. An anime finale schedule tells you when that adaptation concludes; the manga catalogue tells you where the separate published work is found. If you prefer reading now, the completed main manga followed by the special is the identifiable route. If you prefer the animated ending first, leave the special bookmarked until afterwards.
Hell Verse follows a different rescue story
VIZ’s Hell Verse listing describes a 90-minute movie in which Sinners kidnap Ichigo’s sister Yuzu. Ichigo and his friends enter Hell with help from Kokuto to rescue her. The postwar manga special starts with the captains’ ceremony. These different premises are a quick way to recognise which work a search result is discussing.

If you have watched the film, you have followed that rescue story; you still need the manga special to read the published postwar material. If you only want the special’s starting context, the main story’s ending is the relevant preparation. Do not substitute a film purchase for a manga reading option simply because both products use the word “Hell.”
The comparison above uses publisher synopses. Its artwork is an editorial illustration, rather than a reproduction of manga panels or a promise of scenes in a future adaptation. It separates the two starting situations without attempting to decide the canon status of every Bleach film, novel and side story.
What is confirmed about another chapter or anime
As of this update, the official sources reviewed here establish the existing special and its editions, but do not give a verified start date for continuing Hell serialization. Shonen Jump’s Bleach page links the digital special alongside franchise news. Its visible announcements include the 2026 art books, an art-selection result and the 2027 BLEACH FES event; none of those entries supplies a new manga chapter date.
The official anime news archive likewise carries TYBW material, including the October final promotional video and finale-related events. Those announcements identify their own projects. A celebration, merchandise collaboration or TYBW video cannot be used as the release notice for a different Hell adaptation.
Start with the route that fits your language and place in the story: complete the main ending, open the special’s separate English listing or choose the identified Japanese digital edition, and confirm actual reader access before paying. You can read the published material without buying into a predicted sequel schedule.
